The payment account for basic operations is offered in Bulgarian levs and is intended for local and foreign individuals legally residing in the European Union to perform payment operations on the territory of the country, free of charge or for reasonable fees. An unlimited number of payment transactions can be performed on a payment account for basic operations. Access to a payment account for basic operations is not linked to the purchase of additional services. The bank may refuse to open a payment account for basic operations if the client already has another payment account for basic operations or has more than one payment account, allowing payment transactions with the same or another bank in the country. The payment account for basic operations is opened within 10 days from the receipt by the bank of all necessary documents for its opening and after the signing of the contract.

NEW: from September 1, 2023, on the payment account for basic operations*, no fees are paid for operations ordered by the account holder, with funds from labor remunerations, pensions, benefits and promises for social security and social assistance, scholarships for students, students and PhD students. The account is serviced free of charge when used to earn the specified monthly income**.

* A payment account for basic operations is distinguished only in BGN and can be used for operations only on the territory of the country. Each customer can have only one account for basic operations in the territory of the country.

**According to the applicable legislation, effective from 01.09.2023, when operations are carried out on the account for basic operations on the order of the holder, including cash withdrawals, no fees are paid for them, when they are on account of funds received from labor remunerations, pensions, benefits and promises for social security and social assistance, scholarships for pupils, students and doctoral students. The main operations account is serviced free of charge when it receives and stores the specified funds and the interest on these funds.When withdrawing amounts through ATM and POS terminal devices of banks other than the servicing bank, as well as when using other services on the account, other than those specified in the law, the corresponding fees specified in the Bank's Tariff are due.

The supplement is related to additional documents required for opening the account:
1. Certificate of the amount of remuneration issued by the employer - according to the bank's model (when remuneration will be received on the account) and
2. Certificate from the RBSS of the BNB proving the absence of an open payment account for basic operations maintained by another bank on the territory of the country, as well as the absence of more than one payment account through which the client can use all services under Art. 118, para. 1 of the ZPUPS.
